1st book response:

A book I read over the summer was, "Slaughterhouse 5" by Kurt Vonnegut, the story seems to revolve around a young man named Billy Pilgrim during his years, or months, or moments abducted by imaginary aliens called the Tralfamadorians that send him to randomized moments in his life (while he is living on their planet in a zoo). Before Billy Pilgrim was abducted by the Tralfamadorians (and received permanent brain damage from a terrible plane accident, per se) the majority of his time is spent when he and his fellow prisoners were taken across Germany and living in a slaughterhouse prison then working in the city of Dresden. After the war ended, Billy spent the majority of his life in Ilium, New York with his wife and (briefly) his daughter. A symbol in the book was the bird at the beginning and the end of the story that said "Poo-tee-weet?" This symbol marks the end or the solution of an important conflict. The colors ivory and blue are also a symbol because they reminded Billy of the time he spent on Tralfamadore under the observation of these strange creatures. In the story, the protagonist fails to cope with the past traumas of his life in the war. This book gave me a newfound theory on time and how important it is to humans, time is a very complex subject and this book was very eye opening to me.
